OverviewÂ
Barangay Balud II is a flat, low-lying rural farming community in eastern Zarraga, Iloilo. Covering 2.74 square kilometers, its rich terrain is ideal for agriculture, primarily localized rice cultivation. According to the 2025 population survey, the barangay has 1,158 residents (585 males and 573 females), comprising 273 households and 323 families.
Geographically, the community is closely tied to local waterways. It sits less than a kilometer from the vital Jalaur River network, which serves as a key irrigation source for local crops but also makes the area vulnerable to seasonal flooding and overflows during heavy typhoons.
Balud II is well-defined by its borders. It is bounded by Barangay Balud I and agricultural lands leading to Barangay Sigangao to the north, the winding Jalaur River network and the municipality of Dumangas to the south, Barangay Balud Lilo-an to the east, and Barangay Sambag and Barangay Tuburan to the west.
The barangay is highly accessible, located 15 to 16 kilometers north of Iloilo City. This allows residents to commute to the provincial capital in 20 to 30 minutes via public jeepneys or private vehicles. Well-maintained local roads connect the barangay directly to Zarraga's town proper for essential services like schooling and healthcare.
